I'd loaded out my pressure washer and when it was returned I put it right back in the shed I remembered this when I was asked to pressure was the fence When I took it out and opened the gas tank I knew I was in trouble This rarely happens to me But as you can see it does happen So we look at the extent of the damage to the carb after submerged in gas for a year starting with the disassembly of the air filter assembly This reveals substantial tar left behind by the gas the good news is nothing was left in the tank to clean out So the carb will be removed from the engine for disassembly More often than not I can bring these back to new without any new parts This requires careful disassembly The disassembly starts with the drain-plug and bowl This allows for float and needle removal The external portion of the carb was also cleaned as well as any plugs I did not risk removing the main jet And started cleaning around it The needle for the idle was cur off for emissions so I had to slot it with a Dremel to remove it All passages are checked and the Venturi cleaned with q-tips The Float needle seat is polished with metal polish this dramatically reduces chances of fuel from the tank draining into the engine The bowl required extensive work Each needle saw diamond paste to bring it to a shine With that the carb is re-assembled After the float is assembled i blow in it to check that the seal is good I also used some Remoil to expand the float bowl seal before assembly When assembly was completed it was reinstalled back onto the engine And then an oil change was conducted After filling with some gas leak check are conducted Fires up like new on the first pull
